WILLI SMITH: STREET COUTURE

DESIGN CHALLENGE

Design a promotional print publication to help the Smithsonian’s Cooper Hewitt Museum promote a collection of your choice. Assess the message and do research to inform your design direction. Use Adobe InDesign to create dynamic type, image and message in a visually engaging way. Use design principles with type, image, and a modular grid to arrange all elements. Design multiple iterations and refine. Think about the user experience to inform all design choices.

CREATIVE SOLUTION

Willi Smith’s Street Couture exhibition draws the viewer in with its strong editorial photography, attracting those who love fashion from past decades. The design process began by looking through all of the photography offered in the collection and choosing visually compatible images to create a print publication. This publication exemplifies strong typography, color, visual hierarchy, and overall sense of Willi Smith’s fashion design.
