DESIGN CHALLENGE

Using Design Thinking’s human-centered design approaches and methods, create a visual communication installation focusing on a chosen global warming topic. Think about how we might inform, create awarenesss, and engage hearts and minds while connecting the dots between our actions and faith values. Include ways people can take action. Your solution must be: Feasible, Viable, and Desirable. 

CREATIVE SOLUTION

After reading Katherine Hayhoe’s book, Saving Us, I wanted to focus on a topic that we are all guilty of – overconsumption. The goal of this human-centered design installation was to engage, educate, and raise awareness of overconsumption in our daily lives. Barbara Kruger’s bold and typographicc art inspired the visual direction in a powerful way. Collected receipts from friends over the course of two weeks provided tangible evidence and a textural surface. The feasible approach was collecting receipts to obtain a desirable solution by students writing a way they can reduce consumption in their lives.
